Finish and Final Preparations. (Milborrow Chimney Sweeps and Croydon Fireplaces)
Once you have had Promafour Board installed by Milborrow Chimney Sweeps or Croydon Fireplaces if this is lining your fireplace chamber through to a full false chimney breast installations there will be further works to be completed and finished by yourselves or your own decorator, Milborrow Chimney Sweeps can assist with this for additional costings for you Please get in touch for further information.
We will install the Promafour boarding and countersink the fixings (where applicable) and may have used a nail gun for the works and Promafour Glue to adhere the boards where required. These areas and joints will then be made good and finished with Filler as required and left to dry; this will then take around 12 hours to fully dry and may contract/shrink overnight and require reapplying or refinishing the following day and sanding down or additional coats may be required. We will leave the remainder of the Filler Tub on site to enable you to complete this as required. It is key to not heat the room as this will cause the filler to contract/shrink further. Also the temperature should not drop to below 15 degrees for the same reasons.
Once the boards are at an acceptable finish and suitable filler has been applied and fully dried then the next steps will be to apply Promafour Primer to the board pre decorating. Typical Primers are "water based" which can cause "blistering" as Promafour contains no water it is silica based which is ideal for this applianction. Several layers of Primer may be required to fully prepare the boards for decoration.
Once the boards are suitably prepared and ready for painting a common question is; What paint do I need to use? A suitable exterior/heat resistant paint such as Keim Paints are recommended to provide the most resilient and best finish but please refer to Paint Manufacturers Guidelines.
